Happy Veterans Day

Pay It Forward

In Amarillo, TX Quick Quack Car Wash (QQ) has partnered with a group called “Welcome Pardner.” For the last 2 years the group and QQ have collaborated in a “Pay it Forward” challenge. This is the response we got from the brave one who took on the challenge.

I volunteered to pay it forward on the Quick Quack challenge thinking it would be a neat way to get my car washed free.  Bad motive.   LOL

God has such a great sense of humor and He had a lot of fun.  Now to the meat of the story (should be worth a chuckle or two):

On Monday, I dutifully went to the Bell St. location of QQ and handed the two free wash cards to Brandon, manager.  I told him that I wanted to pay for the second car back and proceeded to get my car washed.  As I was in the carwash proper I could see the Toyota Tundra pickup that I thought was my “PIF” prospect so I peacefully went around to vacuum my car free before he showed up and I could take a picture to send to you as instructed.  Next thing I know that pickup is pulling out on Bell without even getting close to me.  I took a couple of getaway pictures then Brandon showed up after the recipient had gotten away.  “Not to fear”, Brandon said, “He was an ‘Unlimited Washes’ customer” and was not my “victim”.  I discovered that Amarillo must have the most clean car attitude in the world and that almost all of them are “QQUW” customers.  I failed in my first attempt to pay it forward, picked up the free wash card from Brandon and went in search of my PIF victim at another Quick Quack location.  On Wednesday, I renewed my quest at Quick Quack on Coulter.  I am now more seasoned so I can handle this.  Talked to the manager, gave her the free wash card and hid around the corner at the free vacuum stations (where I was not a paying customer that day so thought I might get arrested but didn’t).  I peeked through the office window to watch the manager visit with a lady in an SUV that was obviously not an “Unlimited Washes” customer.  I got it.  So, I took a couple of pictures of the young mother before she went through the carwash.  It didn’t take long for one of the Quick Quack employees to roust me out for taking unauthorized pictures.  I thought I was going to have to beg her to not call police but she just told me I had to get permission first.  After I apologized to the young mother in the SUV for the unauthorized picture taking, I found out she had fully paid for her car wash.  Oops.  This paying it forward isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.

But there is a happy end to the story:  I am still a free man.  I did get a picture which I will send.  The lady in the black pickup was tickled with having her car washed for free and she is inclined soon to treat some “Pay It Forward” prospect to a nice surprise too.  PIF works!

Life lesson:  The “free” benefits you get may cost a little more.   LOL

Blessings,

Ed Schroeter

Make Someone’s Day

Jason Johnson

CEO

A kind smile and a sincere hello can make my day. It’s magic when someone you admire remembers your name and says “Hi!” It’s funny to think about, but we have that opportunity every day at Quick Quack. We meet so many people. Waving to a young person in the back of a car and seeing them smile back is one of my favorite things to do when I’m prepping cars. It’s really fun with small ones in car seats that may not even be able to talk yet, but they sound happy and can smile right back. It makes a bad day good and a good day better.
